T.R.E.E. becomes ISO compliant

Tendring Reuse and Employment Enterprise is proud to announce that we are now certified with International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) standards BS EN ISO 9001:2008, BS EN ISO 14001:2004, and BSOHSAS 18001:2007.

In order to become certified, T.R.E.E. underwent a process that included developing a documented quality management system, a full internal audit, an external mock audit, a desktop audit, and an FRN audit, all to ensure compliance with the standards before the final step of the process. The final step was a comprehensive 2 day audit, carried out by Fred Dobb. Once all non-compliances had been actioned and corrected, the process of registration was completed.

The practical tested what everyone had learnt

On Thursday 9th April 2009, members of staff from T.R.E.E. and MillRaceIT took part in a PAT Training course, run by First Stop Safety.

The course was designed to help non-electricians to be able to understand what to look for when testing an appliance. Topics discussed included regulations, HSE recommendations, planning, and implementation.

By the end of the course, all participants were able to tell the difference between Class I and Class II electrical items, and to give all items a full visual inspection and PAT test to identify if the item was safe for use.

A practical test was carried out, with each trainee asked to identify, inspect, and PAT test a Class I & Class II item, as well as an extension lead. While each group took their practical test, a written test containing 30 questions on what had been explained earlier was taken by the rest of the group.

By the end, everyone had answered the 30 questions, and tested all classes of items. The tutors marked the tests, and a 100% pass rate was achieved. Well done to everyone who took part, and a big thank you to Karen and Neville from First Stop Safety, who provided all the information and training.

 T.R.E.E. Christmas Party 2008

On Friday 12th December 2008, the T.R.E.E. team descended on the Warwick Arms for the staff Christmas get together. With T.R.E.E. growing so much over the last year, there were many new faces at this year's party. As a bit of an ice breaker, Mark asked everyone to stand up and talk for one minute about themselves and their role within T.R.E.E. With no preparation, this was a more terrifying task for the newer members of the team who were meeting some of the others for the first time.

New members facing the crowd included Andrew S, who is on a training placement at T.R.E.E. through the Shaw Trust's ILM (Intermediate Labour Market) programme, and Cheryl, who has been working voluntarily with our accounts department for just 6 weeks. Despite their nerves of standing in front of a crowd of 19 colleagues, everyone managed to say something, and even managed to generate a few laughs from the nervous group.

After our introductions, the fun began. With the drinks flowing, it didn't take long for Amanda "Dolly Parton", Paul "Things Can Only Get Better" (A song and a very accurate prediction), and Andy "Andrea Botticelli" to step up to the microphone for a bit of karaoke. Others sharing the microphone included Sharon "Patsy Cline", and CCORRN Manager Nikki DiGiovanni "House of the Rising Sun" who was a special guest of our Chief Executive.

Highlights of the karaoke include Andy's fantastic rendition of Queen's classic Bohemian Rhapsody, with his classically trained vocals earning a rapturous round of applause from all, and Amanda's version of Nine to Five by Dolly Parton, which saw a lot of dancing around the Chief Executive. Anyone who wasn't dancing was too busy laughing at the antics on the dance floor.

Other highlights included Paul's backing dancers, general dancing by all members of the T.R.E.E. team, and Amanda's sparkly handbag which caught the eye of one person who likes shiny things.

The party mood continued well past midnight, and even moved on to town after the Warwick's owners got tired of the singing and closed for the night. While some were calling their wives for lifts in the early hours others were in a local kebab shop, while the sensible ones got out in time and had a weekend to recover from all the events that took place.

A big thank you to everyone who turned up and made it a night to remember.
