August 4th 2009, T.R.E.E. celebrates is 5th birthday
Since its formation in 2004, T.R.E.E. has grown into one of East Anglia’s biggest social enterprise success stories and is now a competitive supplier on the High Street.
Earlier this year it was rewarded with the highest possible accolade at the national Furniture Reuse Network’s Annual Conference in Cheshire, beating more than 300 other companies nationwide to achieve the President’s Award Reuse Project of the Year.
This was in recognition of its services to the reuse sector and impressive partnership arrangements with both business and local government.
T.R.E.E. started out with just one employee plus one volunteer and has since created 23 new permanent jobs. It has provided more than 200 training opportunities for people in the intermediate labour market and those with learning disabilities.
It also provides training facilities to help people back into work and welcomes volunteers in the retail, warehouse, driving, administration and engineering sectors.
Since its inception, T.R.E.E. can boast of moving 877 tonnes of electrical goods, which would otherwise have gone to waste.
By repairing and restoring electrical items that would have been dumped, this non-profit organisation provides low price, high quality white goods to Sue Ryder Care and various other charities from London to Gt Yarmouth.
Through T.R.E.E.’s three community shops in Clacton and one in Chelmsford, it is also able to offer good quality pre-owned furniture, white goods and other electrical items at reasonable prices to the local community and those on low incomes.
