Leading the way in Reuse & Recycling
Tendring Reuse and Employment Enterprise (T.R.E.E.) is a charity that provides volunteer and work placement opportunities for people in the local community. We specialise in those with learning difficulties, the long term unemployed and young people not in education, employment or training (NEET).
We accept and collect good quality donated furniture and electrical items for reuse, and recycle what cannot be reused.
Refurbished quality items are then sold at low cost to the general public, particularly benefiting those who are disadvantaged. This has multiple benefits on the community, including reducing social and financial exclusion and lowering carbon emissions and landfill. TREE is the reuse charity for Clacton, Braintree, and North Essex.
T.R.E.E. was first established in April 2004
Mark Penn, CEO and founder of TREE
TREE was developed from existing projects that were operating in North East Essex. Having identified that although there were several organisations offering furniture there was no service in place to provide the local community with good quality electrical goods.
TREE decided to fill the gap by delivering this service and at the same time minimise the amount of electrical goods that were being sent to landfill.
Since then we have extended our services throughout and beyond the local Tendring area, opening the Community Electrical Shop and the Community Furniture Shops in Clacton High Street, and opening a new Braintree location in 2015. TREE currently works with Braintree District Council running their Bulky Waste collection service.
